I love forbidden, angsty romances and Cruel Lies was chef’s kiss! This book was a really good listen. Brooke Daniels and Troy Duran were incredible and they not only brought these characters to life, but also added in the emotion necessary for this story. I could not stop listening to this book and I can’t wait to listen to book 3!

Both Nicolette and Raph really surprised me as characters, she has a tragic family history that broke my heart a lot and helped me understand her bond with Raphael and love him more. Nicolette is a good girl, kind and warm hearted that when she is forced to spend time with Raph after a while she brings out the braver, flirtatious and strong side of her that i really love reading.
With Raph I have a bit of a love-hate relationship, because I understand his reasons to put distance from Nicolette but I really needed at certain moments in the story for him to give in to his feelings, however, I really enjoyed reading about his past moments with her, being tender, caring, loving and giving Nicolette the love she always deserved. Plus, her character also has a tragic family history just like her, and that gave a super good twist to the plot of Messina Crime Family and made me really enjoy the last chapters of the book.

Her sister was murdered, and she saw who did it… and she’s afraid to tell. Her family doesn’t treat her well.. they were all about her older sister… when she ran
Raph was her sisters husband… but he never loved her.. he married her because she told him she was pregnant… and then she had affairs.. that he did not know about. Nicolette knows.. she saw her multiple times. When she confronted her sister.. (who was a right royal witch), her sister threatened to fix it so she no longer was able to visit. She was friends with Raph, and she couldn’t think about not being able to be a part of his life.
There’s a lot here… family drama, running for their lives, and all of the other things going on between her and Raph.. written by Lillian Harris.. so how can you go wrong!! I love Lillian’s writing, and her characters are ones I want to know more about… I am so ready for more…
