I was a little confused at the beginning but I actually really loved this book. It gave me a little bit of Killing Eve vibes (barely) but I really liked it.

this reminds me a bit of everything you ever wanted. both have sci fi concepts that despite expectations spend more time focusing on the emotions/dynamics of the characters rather than explaining/building the world itself. i think this takes that approach 10x further though- it’s definitely abstract lol. you’re best going into this expecting an experience similar to if you had found these letters between the two, despite those occasional out-of-letter povs, and accepting the blind spots rather than attempting to piece together a complete idea of everything going on time war wise because the details are sparse and the dynamic between blue and red is the real focus here. definitely some really gorgeous writing but i think this got a bit disorienting at times and i felt myself wanting a bit more substance beyond their correspondence

This is truly an atmospheric and enchanting novella about two enemy agents in a war that is waged across time and across different parallel realities. The writing is gorgeous.

Red and Blue encounter each other and start writing letters to each other. As we hop across mythical and historical tableaus and ingenious ways to influence them and as we learn about the societies that Red and Blue are from, we see how their communication intensifies.

It is a wonderful tale and I already know I am gonna reread it. Simply because there's so many different nuggets and reflections on history, politics and macrorelations in the world. And because it is a book that really flows, which gives a great fuzzy feeling, even though some of the actions we read about change thousands of lives for the worst. But they are just the backdrop somehow.

A very interesting and lovely experience.

I couldn’t keep the character’s voices apart, i’m still wondering why exactly they are at war, stakes felt extremely low and there was hardly any build-up towards their relationship
