This book was a true conclusion for Dawn because it was all over the place! It just revolved around the characters like a soap opera that needed to end so every possible question was answered.
The characters….
Clara Sue is an appalling character but if she got anything right it’s the fact that it’s weird af to marry a boy you thought was your brother growing up. That’s basically your brother. Idc. Idc. It’s an ick for sure.
Mom wore off white to your wedding? She trifling, too. But forgive her. She not built Ford tough for sure.
Phillip couldn’t come near me!!!! Restraining order me please!
Fern was a piece of work for sure! I hate speaking ill on children but it’s true….
Why Daddy Longchamp (super weird to type out) can’t make no functions?! Yall can send him a plane ticket or nah? Yall rich! Make a way!
But at the same time, what parent would be okay with their children marrying each other??
And finally Dawn, refer back to Clara Sue paragraph, you’re annoying. Like you on a high horse but you married your brother and trip whenever people bring it up but you married him!!! Not to mention had a baby by your teacher, like girl you might not have skeletons in your closet but ya front room is dusty. Then she would get super judgy of her real mother and sister about their appearance but not judge Mommy Longchamp for anything!! That’s all I’m going to say.
It took me a while to read through this one. Idk if it’s because it’s a re-read or the characters just got to me so much. The secrets and blaming of Grandmother Cutler got to be annoying. The lady is dead. Let her go.
If I could change anything, I would give more happiness to their characters. They’re all doomed to sadness and anguish. Don’t be fooled by the ending.
If you like sad, this is the book for you.

When I read these novels back in the day I would have given them 3-3.5 STARS and now would say about one Star

I started reading VC Andrews books in the 1992 and stopped about 2003. (Twilght's Child was my first book)

I have read:
-Dollanganger Series
-Casteel Series
-Cutler Series
-Landry Series
-Logan Series
-Orphans Series
-Wildflowers Series
-Hudson Series
-Shooting Stars Series
-DeBeers Series
-Broken Wings Series

As a preteen reading these novels was a rebellion and the gothic theme also seemed cool. I stopped reading this author because the novelty wore off, the novels are too formulaic that I could not tell one book from another and gothic aspect was lost.

This is the third book in the Cutler Series and Dawn has improved significantly. Finally, she isn't just some dumb female and matured a lot. My heart grew soft for Dawn's real mother in this book. This book sounds and is actually happier than the two previous books before this. This could have even been the ending of this series but of course, there is still the fourth and the fifth book. Overall, I enjoyed this book very much and as always, Jimmy is the best character ever written in this series.

Spoileadores.
