What an absolutely lovely book.
The only issue I think anyone could raise with it is actually raised in the book itself: "A zen master was asked what he thought about this new book on zen that had been written. Oh, it's an awful book, absolutely terrible, replied the zen master, it makes things far too clear".

Enjoyed listening to Out Of Your Mind by Alan Watts a lot, as a ‘philosophical entertainer’ he presents complex ideas in a digestible and understandable way.

Not sure I’m 100% on board with all the ideas he puts forward, but just considering the zen point of view is an exercise in changing the way you think.

Most intriguing for me was the way he conceptualises life on earth and how this blurs the lines between chemistry, biology and physics, a blurring I’ve also seen addressed from a note scientific angle.

4/5 for this one, and will definitely be reading more Watts in the future.

“To come to your sense, you sometimes need to go out of your mind”, says Alan Watts in the “Out of Your Mind”-lectures. A serious good listen!

Just finished fourteen hours of thought provoking and mind opening lectures from my favorite zen-Buddhist/Hinduism philosopher Alan Watts and realize I likely will re-listen as some of the concepts presented are truly profound.

Alan as always is leading and jokingly dismantling our preconceptions and jolting the listener to become ever so more objective about ourselves and our existence. He guides us through Buddhistic/Hinduistic provoking thought-memes that forces you to reflect and observe your own thoughts on a set of important areas.

Word of advice. Try to listen to this in a calm cool un-distractive environment allowing yourself time to ponder in between sessions.
