Part 1 of a duet.

I struggled with getting hooked in the beginning. But eventually the two of them really grew on me. This is an age gap (35/18) with D/s themes. Clay is the head of the Cosa Nostra, Fawn came to him for help in finding her father. She was pregnant and wanted her fathers help with the baby. Clay was looking to kill her father for things he had done, so he plans on using her as bait.
Clay is married- but there isn’t drama with his wife. The two of them have never had a sexual relationship and she was supportive of him and Fawn which I liked.
It was tough having to read through the rape scene twice, I wish he had just told her the truth when he learned it so she didn’t romanticize what happened. I’m sure it would have been easier to learn the truth from him versus how she found out.

Phenomenal

This was a phenomenal read!

These two don't seem like they should work but they do, they're perfection together!

She needed to be loved, believed, and how needed the same although he didn't know it until he met her.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

In the previous books Clay just didn't interest me but holy hell I could not put this book down. Mafia drama, hot sex and lots of emotional baggage. Your heart breaks for Fawn and all she has had to endure. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

age gap mafia romance ????? YESSIRRRR (clay would appreciate that) daddy clay was everything I needed nghhhhhh he's so !!!!! and baby fawn :((( this shit was GORY and some parts were fucking sad man, but the spice was good aloe vera for the wounds in my heart and I appreciated that.

some of the dialogue was a little weird, just didn't feel very realistic so it took me out of the story and had me skimming for my own peace of mind. but EEEK! so engaging I could not put it down

still a wee bit nervous about getting pro-life vibes from this series which makes me cringe but im trying not to think too much into it, do not take my word for it
dark emotional tense medium-paced

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

no just no. couldn’t even finish it it was so bad, doesn’t help i read it out of order but i wasn’t aware it was a series. tiktok made it seem like a cute romance it’s not. infact chapter 25 goes into detail into a r*pe with no trigger warning.

I survived this book.

In the words of Thumper...

"If you don't have anything nice to say, then stay quiet."

I'm quiet.

OR

Steel Magnolias...

"If you don't have anything nice to say, come sit by me."

I'm sat.

i need time to process…

okay i’m back. I don’t have much to say now that I’ve distanced myself but I’ll just say this. it’s partially my fault for not looking at TW before reading but I felt that certain subject matter was so intense and descriptive in a way that not only made me uncomfortable but felt unnecessary. I appreciated the ending and how her feelings following the discovery of SA was dealt with (i’ll be honest i cried, it was emotional) and I was captivated by some of the romance throughout the book.

unfortunately the few good things just couldn’t overcome the visceral reaction i had to throw the book (or my ipad i should say) at the wall and rate it 1 star and dnf. i paused and came back to finish it because i was already past 70% through it but i wouldn’t recommend this reading experience to anyone.

i acknowledge that my comfort level with certain topics may vary from others but even so i felt that these topics didn’t need to be shared the way they were. it’s important to learn from and share certain perspectives but some things can be less intense and still get the point and feelings across.

SPOILER FOR TW!
**TW for SA and child loss**
