Regretting You

Colleen Hoover

4.03 AVERAGE

This book sheds light on the reality of how harsh a mother and daughter relationship can be. Although the daughters character can be very irrational and a little annoying. Clara has a hard time after her dad dies and her grief makes her do stupid things. These things put a strain on her relationship with her mom because she uses her anger is retribution to hate her mother. The daughter’s actions and lead to strains in their familiar relationship and also regret it. The daughter uses it anger to ruin her virginity and to put pressure on her relationship with her boyfriend. Ultimately her whole character seems completely childish and irrational.

I hate that Miller was used as an object to get back at Morgan. I mean Clara decided to lose her virginity only because it’d hurt her mother not because she was ready. However, he stuck through all her inner turmoil and her family drama because he loved her. He’s been in live with her for years. The ending with the promposal was beautiful and gave me butterflies. Knowing that he videotaped her car going by and said that of she turned back to give him a ride that this would be a sign. The sign he needed to ask her out. I just loved that he captured every part of their story beginning, middle, and end.

I love Morgan’s flashbacks to her childhood and how she does deserve the electric love of Jonah. And i also appreciate how Jonah’s actions are respectable. He left so that Chris could be there for Morgan when she got pregnant with his baby. Although that choice was the right thing to do it also hurt him so much because he’s been in love with Morgan since they were teenagers. And he still loves her in his 30s. Hell he remembers her favorite flavor of candy from when they were teenagers (something her husband forgot).

Chris is a terrible person and Jenny was so unbelievable. She’d make these digs about knowing her sister’s husband better because she was having an affair with him. Jenny was also giving gifts and playing her sister as a fiddle. Chris and her would talk about their meeting in front of her and no one said anything. She is a horrible human being especially after all Morgan did for Jenny. I mean Jenny slept with Jonah at his father’s funeral and then lied to him about her baby being his. Did she plot to go to the services in order to cover up her unplanned pregnancy by her brother in law? Also the idea that Jenny mentioned marrying Jonah. Was jenny really going to marry Jonah and also continue her affair with chris?

I also love the bravery of Morgan and how the mom was ready to take the daughter’s brutal hatred so that she can keep the image of her father. Only the image of her father as a saint wasn’t accurate or even remotely true.

This fell flat. Maybe because the characters didn’t relate to me. I just didn’t like the main characters.

Damn! I can't seem to stop crying on the last few chapters

me encantó, demasiado wholesome y heartwarming desearía que nunca se hubiera acabado

I listened to this as an audiobook on Audible. I did NOT like the narrator for Morgan but the one for Clara was absolutely incredible. I loved this book. I was so annoyed by so much miscommunication that was through most of the book but that was also what made it so good. I had to find out how everyone’s story ended.

Tema principale molto interessante ed intenso; ma il resto...meh. Un po' trash e cringe sinceramente. E l'emozione nella parte finale = 0
