When you think you’ve figured this book out, you haven’t. The last quarter of the book alone is worth 5 stars. Every loose end is buttoned up and although super sad, the characters get the redemptions they deserve.

This book went progressively (even if too slowly) from "this is not going to end well" to "WHAT THE ACTUAL F***!". And suddenly you just don't want to look anymore. But you can't turn away either.
5 stars to the narrator. Highly recommended as audiobook. I couldn't have done all that in my head.

There are a lot of potentially triggering material

including the description of a hanging (suicide), injury/burn descriptions, child abuse, starvation, death, death of a child (dead child's body described), and as a MAJOR PLOT POINT, dissociative identity disorder (I do not have DID so I cannot speak to the authenticity of it - the author's afterword describes her research on DID).

If you're afraid of snakes, one of the narrators has a severe fear of snakes and will constantly describe snakes.
