A Girl wants a dragon, a dragon wants a girl. This quintessential story of a child wanting a pet can easily be related to by any number of children.
Spoilers ahead.
The girl's action to get the dragon however is to simply cry. The dragon then follows her tears and off they run together living in the wilderness.
Not a lot happens in the book. But then again, sometimes when it comes to wanting a pet, all you really want is the companionship - which is what this book embodies.

The story was cute, but some of the rhymes and rhythms were a little forced. If you are thinking about using this for a read-aloud, it might be good to practice a few times to work out some of those awkward spots.

Read this at storytime and the kids enjoyed it. Would be fun to partner with The Paperbag Princess for compare and contrast. Unlike that scary dragon, this one is a sweetie who dreams of having a friend.

A beautiful book about a little princess and a dragon who want to be friends. I loved the artwork in this book. It is so gentle and beautiful. The language in the book is also very soothing and calming. I really liked the lyrical, poetic style.
I'll admit, the princess crying to get what she wants is a little old-fashioned for me, but I still thought it was a very nice book.
An heart-warming story about friendship.
