Eh

to call this poetry is a crime to poetry. maybe there were a few clever lines that had some rhythm, but apart from that, it felt a lot more like instagram quotes that are used for captions. there was no "poem" in this book that had me in awe or made me admire the beautiful writing, it was so mediocre i can't even begin to go in to detail. additionally, the whole book is essentially telling women to wait for the "right man" as if we are meant to know who that is? some poems were just shaming women for trying out different options, and outlining how men desire purity in women. truthfully, it just felt extremely intrusive and offensive because a man's opinion of a "strong woman" being after they've been broken by another man is just ridiculous. this book was so disappointing i don't even want to read the others to see if his writing magically develops. don't waste your time thinking about reading or actually reading this book because i'm not wasting my time writing a review about how much i hated it.

this book is powerful and everything a female needs to hear when dealing with insecurities.

This seemed like it was written by a lovesick, clingy teenager.

"Hearts aren't made to be broken, they are made to be fed love"

Okay normally I don’t review books unless I have really good things or really bad things to say but this book was confusing to me. Like there were a few poems I really liked and resonated with me. The majority of them were forgettable. But there were more than a couple that struck me as offensive and honestly preachy. I’m not a religious person nor do I judge others who are but I was very shocked at the religious subtext going on here. This needs to be annotated and unpacked because either the author is genuine with these thoughts or this is some kind of internalized religious ideal he’s projecting. Do not judge womxn or their journeys on how they find love. Love is not a one size fits all thing either. Okay rant over !!

The first book that I have read from the author and I actually enjoyed it. I have a number of favorite and I love them.

Most of these pieces were platitudes  that I'm getting sick of. It's fine, I guess.
