meh.

This poetry really appealed to my sappy, hopeless-romantic self. As I read it, there would be a poem that really sat well with my own experience. Plus, I could easily return to it at different stages of my life. The only reason I gave it four stars rather than five is because there are references to God in it, and I am not religious. I don't connect emotionally to those poems, but overall, a good book of poems.

There were many poems I found beautiful... and many I found.... not. A little repetitive but I guess that was the point. Overall I found it to be uplifting and encouraging for women!

I'm sorry, Pierre. I wanted to love love poems about women. But they were sooooo cheesy. Embarrassingly so. It was painful instead of romantic. Not that I could do any better! But still...

I’m kind of disappointed in this because of all of the religious mentions and references through the books. It made me feel as if females were made for one male exclusively and should wait for them and not sleep with other guys... maybe I’m wrong and I’m just seeing things but that’s the feeling i got from it and it made me kind of uncomfortable...

My mom and I read poetry together every morning. She lives in Oklahoma, and I live in Florida. I send her pictures of the poems and we discussed. We have read every Beau Taplin book, some Rupi Kaur, Michael Faudet, and Lang Leav. This one was a gift from a reader of mine, so I gave it a shot.

While I think there were many great poems in this, I wasn't overly impressed. The writing is pretty simple and a lot of the poems felt repetitive to me. I didn't really have any WOW moments where a poem knocked my socks off.

That being said, my mom really enjoyed it and we discussed many of the poems at length. A solid 3-star poetry read that will remind you of adolescence and all the ways you should cherish yourself as a woman.

There’s got to be a specific openness and love in reading this that made my heartstrings wavered in delight. I found a particular image in these pages that I had recognised in myself. It’s really cool and interesting to see.

In a generation of people who want to be
heartless, savages and empty of feelings,
it’ll be hard to find someone who is what
you need, but do not become like the
world.
Be loyal, be truthful, be emotional, be full
of feelings, be hungry for love, be thirsty
for affection and anything else human
beings ought to desire.
Let them be foolish and cold.
Don’t dim your light to become as dark as
they are
