DNF at 42%. This book was just not for me. Very well written, but reeeeeallly slow. I kept waiting for something to happen, but it’s just letters back and forth that paint a picture of a marriage in trouble.

I know most people loved this book, and I bought it based on all the glowing reviews, but this just wasn’t for me. Celestial was not someone I liked or could relate to, and Roy also has some pretty unlikable qualities. In the end, I opted to just move on. Life’s too short to read books you don’t like.

i'm sorry i know i'm really taking an oversimplified stance on very complex emotional issues but i just think celestial and andre are trifling! her dad was right when he said you can't just be out there doing anything you want just cos, sorry he ate her up!!

Sometimes after finishing a really popular book, you have to wonder if you read the same thing as everyone else because you just don’t get the hype. This is one of those times for me.

The book was fine, I guess. The premise was great, the language was beautiful at times. But the characters were less than interesting and the ultimate takeaways of the novel about marriage were nothing unique.

In the end, I’m mostly left confused about why people love it one so much. It just wasn’t for me.

I like the story, I liked the writing and the format, but despise the characters. I REALLY hate the characters. I kept finding myself making faces at them all. So wrong.

Found it very slow in the middle. Didn’t like the way Celeste was treated. Skimmed the end because I was finding it was dragging.
