This contains the tiniest of a spoiler,it is hidden :). I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked up The Iron King. Plus I have never read a book solely based upon faeries before but there are other creatures included but fae are amongst the main plot line. It is a fantasy book so you have the works of Trolls, Goblins, Satyrs, Dryads, etc. but I really like where Julie Kagawa is going with this story.
I thought all of the main characters were really awesome actually. Starting with Meghan,at first she seriously starts out as a damsel in constant distress but by the end of the book I am pretty sure she will be able to handle her own from now on but once she gets a better understanding of what she can do(you'll see).Plus Ash...yeah total heart throb. Seriously who can resist this face???

I expected to give this book probably 4 stars (like I said I really didn't know much about this book at all when I decided to pick it up) but I am giving it 5 stars and putting it on my fangirl shelf because there was always something happening whether it be romance, action, anything and it never bored me once.On another note which I think most readers are looking for is that the book had a more than satisfying ending & the world of Nevernever left me wanting more. So do yourself a favor and if you really like Fantasy novels then pick this book up.....like NOW!

Now this is an amazing book. The first in the series by this author and I’m dying for the sequel to come out in August. The story starts a bit slow but it quickly builds drawing in mythical aspects that we have all come to know, and many of us love.
So with all the hype that I’ve heard about this book for years I was expecting something super GREAT...Sadly I wasn’t that crazy about it. While I read it and thought it was just so so, I did skim many pages and won’t be reading the other books in the series. Just my thoughts.
While I'm a huge lover of YA Fiction, I usually prefer supernatural or paranormal genres. This is the first book I've ever read set in the world of the Fey, and i enjoyed it. There were times the story felt a little predictive, which made it kind of boring, and I'm not sure about the pacing, sometimes it lagged. But it was well written, and a must for anyone interested in faeries.

I listened to this book about two weeks ago (review written 10/06/2015), so this review will be somewhat of a struggle to make worthy to be called "a review." I took a road trip (from Tucson, Arizona, to Bartlesville, Oklahoma) and listened to [b:The Iron King|26463399|The Iron King (The Iron Fey, #1)|Julie Kagawa|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1442144658s/26463399.jpg|6838626] as I drove. As I recall, I really liked it. The reader, [a:Khristine Hvam|2899437|Khristine Hvam|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1331505686p2/2899437.jpg], did an excellent job with the voices and characterizations. Each character, and there were a lot of them, had a unique voice. I never had any trouble figuring out who was talking. :-)
It wasn't until around about Chapter 17, though, that I realized the book didn't match its title. Because around about Chapter 17, we had the first mention of "The Iron King." There are only 25 chapters in this book, so it seems weird to me that it was just an excellent story for over half of it before the title clicked. (Does this make sense? I remember thinking this when I was listening: I had an "aha!" moment, where I was all, "so that's why this book is called The Iron King.")
I'm really not sure why this seemed so strange to me, as sometimes I'll read and love books that have titles that never make sense, and yet I love the stories. I don't really pay much attention to a title once I've started the book, so I don't know why I felt like I was hit over the head with it in this book.
But I was.
And then the ending. This was a complete story, and I loved it, but to leave us hanging like that? Argh!!!! And I know thatMeghan going back to the Winter Court with Ash is likely a full book's worth of story (or, at least, it had better be a full book's worth of story), but still... Argh!!!!
I'm not sure of what else I could say in this review. I do remember more of the story. I actually remember a surprising amount of the story, considering that I listened to it and audiobooks are somewhat problematic for me. Apparently, road trips are the key for me when it comes to listening to and appreciating audiobooks. :-)
I have the "real" book on hold at my library. Hopefully I'll have more review-worthy things to say once I've read a print edition. For now, though, I think I've said enough to call this review done. ;-)

This was like a better version of ACOTAR. but just the first book. Like a leadup to ACOMAF. ASH tho! He is a gem and Puck. I love Puck. Machina can go die in a hole. I love Grim! "I am a cat"
I'm not necessarily a big fan of the gaelic monsters/fey, so this didn't appeal to me that much at first. I also thought that the author should have developed the main character more. You follow her on adventures, but I didn't really know much about her and didn't feel much for her. I did eventually get over the gaelic stuff and enjoy the action of the book at least.
