This is honestly a super depraved and dark romance. It's dehumanizing and rough... But I f*cking love it! It made me have every single emotion. Disgust, Sadness, Joy, it was just an emotional suspenful book! It's a must read for those of us who are a little sick and twisty.

It's much like Haunting Adeline, Does It Hurt, The Ritual and The Sinner. Making it perfect!

some parts i really loved, and then others i really hated. the whole first half was SO GOOD, but it just went downhill from there. and mandy’s character was kinda the worst?? i found her extremely unsympathetic and pushy instead of supportive when they got back. i feel like her pushing dean to be intimate with her or pushing cora to tell her everything that happened to her was shitty of her. i understand her being upset about them being together, but those 2 parts specifically really pissed me off.

but the first half 😭😭 it was so good and so heartbreaking. i really liked the dynamic between dean and cora in the beginning and throughout them being kidnapped, and i really liked their characters. i feel like without the sister’s fiancé trope, the ending would’ve been a lot better & i would’ve probably given this a higher rating.

This book would've been a higher rating if I did not feel uncomfortable about the plot and how certain issues were glossed over.

I just wish the author focused more on the sister and her relationship with the Cora, especially since Cora is literally married to her ex-fiance.

Personally, the infidelity in this book made me really hesitant to like it- purely from a moral standpoint. At certain points it felt like mental illness and trauma was used as an excuse for cheating. Kind of reminds me of Dear Evan Hansen.
