I adored this, absolutely devoured the story. Two serial killers who kill other serial killers have a chance encounter, make a "game" out of their "hobby" and fall in love.

In the best way possible, what the fuck did I just read?

I saw a few things online that piqued my interest, I’m so glad I picked it up. As an avid enjoyer of all things grotesque, macabre, & morbid I was IMMEDIATELY enraptured by this book. I mean who else wouldn’t be like “fuck yeah I’m in” at the first mention of a rotting corpse.

The premise, to me, was unique and fun while also allowing for some interesting characters and sub plots. I usually don’t enjoy books with split POV’s but I must say this really worked, like REALLLY worked for storytelling.

I would 1000% recommend this, however it’s not for the faint of heart. Yes it is very much a dark rom-com but it is DARK. Don’t get me wrong I was laughing and blushing the whole way but when serial killers are involved, yikes. Very much read the triggers before diving in.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5  / 5

I kept hearing things about the infamous “ice cream” and I’m not okay, like part of me knew but also I was UNPREPARED.
I LOVE the “obsessed from the start” trope. It has me in a CHOKEHOLD!
Also Rowan’s POV for their first time… immaculate.
Really hated the “I have to break your heart to save you” shit it just feels icky but I fucking knew we couldn’t trust David.

I loved this book. It's not something I'd normally pick up, but the combination of vengeant serial killers, a sweet romance, great spice, amazing banter, and well-developed characters had me hooked.

The book has very Dexter-like vibes (but it's better) - and follows two serial killers who kill serial killers. It's funny, kind of gross at times (good thing I rarely eat orzo pasta), and the story just has a little bit of everything. It's a fast-paced, slow burn... from friends to lovers.

Rowan and Sloane are so captivating as characters. Sloane has a bit of an introverted, moody vibe; Rowan has big golden retriever energy, and the way he loves Sloane is absolutely swoon-worthy.

If you like dark comedy, well-written spice, a little bit of morbidity, a swoon-worthy MMC, and a book that hooks you from the first page, this is a great pick.

It’s amazing written with fantastic characters. The sex was WAY too much for me. I’m just not that kinky I guess.

*Alexa, play knives out by Radiohead*

To set the scene… the dedication for this book is— ‘𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 + 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 “𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐦? 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐧!” 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮’.

If you can get past the dark premise of this plot, don’t mind a CW list longer than your arm (a lot occurs off-page) and love a dark + gritty book, this is the book for you. It’s unhinged. Hilarious, steamy, witty + unique, but still completely unhinged. I LOVED it. I was super intrigued after seeing how much @hollyreadit loved it. It was such a pacy + fun read, unlike anything I’ve ever read before.

Sloane + Rowan were brilliant characters. They’re serial killers but.. they’re good serial killers, and their friendship + subsequent romance is actually really freaking sweet. Not to mention spicy! I loved them both + the side characters were all flawlessly written too.

If you’re a thriller girly looking to delve into the romance genre.. this is the perfect book for you! It’s the perfect blend of the two genres. I cannot wait for book #2 LEATHER & LARK, coming in June! 🫶🏽
