Okay, this was surprisingly adorable. I absolutely loved the pairing of shy but snarky Sloane and charming but annoying Rowan. I loved that Rowan's POV had him willing to back down and be patient, but that he was such a sucker for her anyway.

The conversations between these two were hilarious, and Brynne Weaver does an amazing job of showing the fragility of Sloane underneath her strong facade.

  • Eyeballs and eye sockets
  • Amateur surgery
  • Skin ornaments
  • Chainsaws, axes, knives, scalpels—a lot of sharp objects
  • Accidental cannibalism
  • Not-so-accidental cannibalism
  • Questionable use of a mummified corpse

Two serial killers have a meet cute and agree to have a hunting match every year after that. If that doesn’t sound interesting or like fun then steer clear.

This was so fun. Rowan was the right amount of unhinged to work and Sloane was just as attracted to red flags as me to be drawn in by it.

If you like dark but lighthearted reads definitely pick this up BUT please read the full list of trigger warnings first because that will definitely give you a good idea of if this will be for you or not.

I adored this, absolutely devoured the story. Two serial killers who kill other serial killers have a chance encounter, make a "game" out of their "hobby" and fall in love.

READ THE AUDIO BOOK!!! The narrators are going straight to heaven for the performance they gave in this book.  Such an easy read!! The spice was spicy throughout the entire book.  READ THE CONTENT WARNINGS bc she’s not kidding.  This book was definitely out of left field and surprising in the best way.  I loved the characters, I loved the plot, I loved the twist.  I’m just not quite sure how being a serial killer and a successful chef fits together and how realistic that is but it works in this book.  Not a book I’ll soon forget about and I hope there’s a sequel coming!

“You’re all the best things to me, Sloane. No matter how many bruises are in your heart or on your skin.”

Just read it. It's worth the hype. I loved this book. It's dark, thrilling, and funny with the chemistry and banter it was brilliant. Also felt like something I haven't read before with the witty fun and games serial killer vibes. Sloane is strong, smart and determined but also holding back on opening up to a chance at love. Then we have the fun flirty Irish man named Rowan who is a chef and would burn mountains for his woman. The spice was delicious and very intimate. The slow burn was strong but worth every minute. It just kept me gripped and engaged with the storyline as these characters were perfection. Very excited for the next instalment following Lark and Lachlan!
