I loved this book from start to finish, and it really felt perfect for me. Although the plot may seem mundane on the surface, the experience overall was very refreshing and enjoyable. I will definitely be rereading this in the future – especially since I discovered at the end that the protagonist and I share the same line of work!

as a post-grad applying for jobs, i found this book kind of relatable to my own situation. it’s not easy finding a job that checks all the boxes and then working said job until you’re able to retire. but this serves as a reminder that other things are what make life enjoyable.

The book follows the main character from job to job trying to find happiness after reaching burnout.  She finds out that all jobs suck.

Pour moi ce livre avait plus la structure d'une anthologie avec différentes histoires connectées par la meme protagoniste naviguant différents jobs. Certaines histoires étaient plus palpitantes (le job pour la companie de bus et celui pour celle de galettes de riz) que d'autres (le job de surveillance). Le ton était assez absurde (ce qui est positif) et comique mais parfois aussi fastidieux. C'était surement volontaire mais j'ai eu de temps en temps difficile à continuer de lire. J'aurais aimé que l'autrice soit plus descriptive sur les raisons pour lesquelles notre protaginiste a quitté son premier emploi.

Feels more like a series of short stories. It’s a very slow paced book without much action going on, it’s a very calm read and borders on boring. Which is the main message I’m pretty sure, it’s in the title, I think it’s supposed to be a very mundane and dull book to reflect the effects of capitalism on the average employee. So a little boring but that’s the point lol.
