The Frostblood saga continues with the second installment, Fireblood. In the aftermath of the events surrounding the melting of the Frost Throne, Arcus tries to stabilize his kingdom as Ruby does her best not to suffocate in the hostility of the court. When a handsome young ambassador from Sudesia appears with an offer to take Ruby there to meet the queen and train with Fireblood masters, Ruby sees an opportunity to not only learn how to defeat the Minax released from the Frost Throne, but also to finally meet more people like her. Her travels to Sudesia test her physical, mental, and emotional strength to the limits as the fates of Tempesia and Sudesia hang in the balance.

Fireblood is an enjoyable read and continues the development of its strong female lead. The unnecessary love triangle is the biggest detractor of the story, but it does not ruin the book. I look forward to seeing how events progress in book three.

And I thought the first one was amazing! I loved this thoroughly! All the characters and the many twists of fate. This was more solid than the first book in that training was swift and the characters were never still. They always had a goal and Ruby could explore and do more in Sudesia than in Tempesia. Overall I'm really excited to read the next one!

I think I enjoyed this book even more than the first one, which is rare. I loved seeing the different kingdom of Sudesia and more inner workings of firebloods and their culture. The plot grew so much bigger from book 1 but not so much that it was hard to follow or predictable. I can't wait to read book 3.

Honestly, I don’t know where to start , how to end, I have finished the first book about a month ago or so and I enjoyed it. The plot twists in the first book were great. But those on this book? They are on a different level. I was genuinely surprised with some of them, totally unexpected and exciting.

Ok. So. This book did NOT suffer ‘second book sydrome’. If anything, it was BETTER than the first one!! Loved the journey, loved how Ruby evolved, loved the new characters and missed the old ones (when I didn’t even realise how much I liked them!), and most of all I loved the plot twists duuuuuuuude!

"What is the point of living if you can't let yourself feel anything?"

Hey guys, I finished Fireblood by Elly Blake, the sequel to Frostblood. Let me just tell ya, this is a rollercoaster, one that builds tension then explodes. It has drama right up front, and danger, then adventure, then action and more danger, and did I mention danger? LOl. A wrong step anywhere could lead to doom. It was so precarious, everything hanging on by a thread. And then the thread is lit on fire and explodes. Seriously. And of course there is heart strain and ache and conflicting feeligns, all that, but the book's true essence was its action, secrets, and revelations. The writing for action scenes was great, easy to follow along and keep track of whats what. And the revelation scenes, some were predictable if you knew what to think about, and others completely blew my mind. Like, I was in shock, gasping at the book. Damn. I really did love the action scenes, and all the displays of fire magic, so cool how the author thought about all of that. I also loved watching Ruby get stronger and more determined, focusing on what she wants, no one else. For the most part. Wait, lemme back up. THis book relatively picks up where the last one let off. Ruby is dealing with her new circumstances best she can. And Arcus is too. But their ways of dealing with it....are complete opposite. Arcus seems to have a big blind spot when it comes to her, and Ruby is just like "seriously bro, do you not see whats going on". As much as I loved them together, I had my worries, regarding...everything...especially Marella....BUt then things happened and she met Kai and he was like "come sail away with me" And I was like "yes". (not a spoiler, its on the bookjacket). Arcus...i dont even know how to feel about him in this book. Was he brave? was he stupid? was he selfish? I have no idea. But then again, Kai, the new bro, has some conflicting qualities as well. Was he selfish? Was he caring? DId he truly believe in her? Did he just want what was best for her or best for himself? **sighs** men....But Kai definitely brought sparks to this novel. He was funny, confident, daring, and dashing. I was swooning. And he helped Ruby in a way Arcus couldnt. He let her be her. He let her be free. He wasnt restricting. And maybe for those reasons...I kinda wanna root for Kai? Although he has his issues....in the end, I think he truly does want to protect Ruby, and cherish her. But Arcus wants the same...but could it ever work? UGH. Damn triangles. Why do I always have to root for the underdog. But yeah, anyway, this book was action packed and i could not stop reading. I just had to know what was going to happen next. ANd that ending, that about killed me. WHen i finished it, I literally went on amazon at midnight and ordered the next book, I am that desperate to read the next one. Wow. I did not see that ending come. **wipes brow** Gonna be interesting how all this wraps up...I just want Ruby to be happy, and be with people who will accept her. I want the best for her. ANd i want the best for Kai. And even Arcus. Damn. Okay, so yea, this book had a bunch of greatness to it. Her time in Sudesia was definitely not what she expected. SO much occurred, so much...the training, the trials, the mission, everything. (not spoiler, on bookjacket). It was a whirlwind of feeling, and half the time I wasnt even sure what i was feeling. Neither did RUby, HA. But i think something that could have made this novel better would have been a pov from Arcus....I really wanted to know what he was up to when she was in sudesia. But oh well....Okay, i think i rambled on long enough. If you guys have any questions or comments, drop em below. Till next time. bye.
