I picked up The Bullet Journal Method because I already use a planner and a Bujo, and I wanted to understand the system from its creator’s perspective. I found it fascinating to learn that Ryder Carroll developed the method as a way to manage ADHD, using pen and paper to organize his thoughts.

The first chapters are the most useful: he explains how to structure the notebook to save time, organize tasks, and gain more clarity day to day.

After that, the book shifts tone and leans heavily into self-help: talking about purpose, motivation, and how to use the Bujo to rethink your life. That part didn’t resonate with me as much; I found it repetitive and less practical than I had hoped.

Overall, it’s worth reading if you’re already interested in organization and productivity, especially to understand the logic behind the method. But if you’re expecting a purely technical, hands-on guide, be prepared: about half of the book is more about personal reflection than the system itself.

I'm looking forward to trying Bullet Journaling, but I don't think this book is the best place to start. This seems better for the person who has been doing it for 6 to 12 months and want's to learn 'advanced' topics. For the beginner, the book throws too much at you. Start with the info on the website to get started.

The method is really helpful and effective. I have been using it for a couple of months now, and I truly love it. The book, however, is a different story. It’s not very clear and well organized. I had to stop reading and watch a few YouTube videos to get what is meant. It also has many parts that I feel are redundant. All the same, I am very happy I came across this book and learned about this method.
