Crank, Glass, Ice, whatever you want to call it, it’s powerful and will bring you down. Kristina thinks she can have it all, baby, the drugs, a job, and a family but learns all too quickly that those things don’t mix. So she chooses herself over her baby and family. Glass is the second installment of Ellen Hopkins series and drugs, a sequel to Crank.

I enjoyed the book for its writing style and brutal honestly about drug use and what it does to a young person’s outlook on life. While parts of it my seem a bit unrealistic to me, never having gotten into the heavier stuff in my younger days (and my main form of addiction running more to the over spending money/shopping side of things), I didn’t always get the absolute need to put your high above all else, but I do understand how it happens for others and unfortunately have been witness to it too many times to count.

I don’t recommend this book as a cautionary tale for younger folx as right now in the story line things seem to be going kinda okay for Kristina and Trey. Where they end up is another question as the book leaves you on a bit of a cliff hanger.
