I can't entirely like a heroine that believes in deities or fairies.

FUCK. YOU. MOSES.

Mostly for this time of the year I'm never lucky with books, hard to find really goods for me (with everything that I like.

This one is a good mix, and it talks about an issue that can happen to anyone and how is really hard to go through it, really angsty at the beginning which I loved, he's kinda mean and hurtful and he actully didn't mean to.

I also loved that this couple knew so much about each other and I guess this is what happens when you a have a relationship that is long-term, although not always, but I really liked the idea of both families being so close.

my heart hurts just thinking about this book but like in good way, 3.25/5

EQS Rating: 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Rated on a curve)

Headline: Don’t be put off by the title! A GREAT STORY.

REVIEW: I realize that this novel is Book One of a set wherein each novel in the series examines a certain kind of relationship. Each book title defines the status quo in fairly simple terms. I get the theme BUT the title was a real turn off. If I were the queen of the publishing industry, I would’ve titled this book: “I LOVE YOU, I GUESS.” Or maybe, “The Divorce; a Love Story.” I read it because it had come well recommended by someone whose reviews I trust on Goodreads. Although there were a few grammatical distractions or proofreading issues, like “penny’s” instead of “pennies,” “mommy’s” instead of “mommies” and “Carmel” instead of “caramel,” the author does a great job of writing a beautiful love story. Her story telling skills are awesome. She is strong at building relationship and often being funny along the way. I don’t know how it works when a book is going to “e-print” so maybe a computer program is to blame for those errors. If AI really does take over the world one day, I’m sure the grassroots efforts will be led by Autocorrect and Autodictation! Heaven knows those two evil geniuses have sabotaged my text messages often enough. Although there were moments when the story just lagged a little for me, somewhere at the 75% mark became noticeable, overall I just found this refreshing, humorous, sweet, sad, joyful and thought-provoking. There is a point in the story where Chris claims he wants to get up and do the full dance version of Uptown Funk that had me chuckling. This too made me laugh: “‘We need to talk,’ is sign language for, ‘bad shit is flying everywhere.’ I bet before Caesar was stabbed, Brutus said, ‘we need to talk,’ but in Roman. (I think she means Latin.) I have a clear vision in my head, of King Henry VIII telling each wife on the eve of their beheading, ‘hey, so we need to talk.’”

I’m suspicious of superlative reviews that seem to hand out 5 stars willy nilly (or “Willy Billy” as Autocorrect the ipad Overlord would re-name it.) I am particular and somewhat stingy with my stars. The true measure of my love for books is whether I would re-read the book again. Another vote of confidence from me is whether I will buy the book. Both are true in this case. It’s a keeper! I belong to several lending libraries or book membership programs. That’s where I originally found THE DIVORCE. By the half way mark, I had decided to buy the book.

I liked all the cast in this story but it really helped to have Todd and Mandy as besties. Their kids were cute too. I liked that the story had no dastardly villains.

Ok so this is not a work or literary art, its never going to be a classic or a modern classic. But it gives you 'all the feelings' everything, hope, joy, heartbreak, frustration. I laugh, I cried and it was sexy. The characters were great 3d characters who felt real and I fell in love with both of them. The author has a real talent for writing this type of trope. It has problems but It allowed you to go on the journey with the characters and although you knew they would get their happy ever after, at a few points I was wondering if the author was going to left field us. I think this is a great comfort read or re-read its heartbreaking but its safe. Like I said this does not stack up against any greats but for what it is (a modern romance) it is great at that.

Oh...my...gosh!! I just devoured this in one sitting!

Nicole!!! You had my emotions all over the place!

Chris and Jenzy’s love story was so cute, and their marriage struggles were absolutely heartbreaking. I was hooked the second I started the book and couldn’t stop reading until I knew what the fate of their relationship. One minute I was hating Chris and the next I was rooting for him so hard! The character development was *chefs kiss!*

The groveling that Chris had to do was soooo needed (he was such an ass at the beginning) and I LOVED watching it play out.

Also, the brownie scene!!! I was laughing so hard!! Never eat random brownies that are randomly chilling in a kitchen, folks!

If you want a refreshing, butterfly inducing, satisfying end, lots groveling type of book....this one is for you!

Dude.
So.
I'm a total sucker for groveling and this freakin delivered.

I don't have many words other than:
- The H is an asshole who tries to mend his asshole ways.
- And the h stands her freakin ground which I applaud her for.
- Its angsty and I got all the feels.

So 5 stars yo. Go. Read. Now.

3.25 stars.

a long, very nice grovel from the H. i really enjoyed it. the only reason im not giving it a higher rating is because i prefer more steam in my romances. the steamy scenes were too infrequent for my tastes. i also didn't really buy the H's reason for withdrawing from the h but that's not a dealbreaker for me. might reread in the future.
