This book is so beautifully written and I loved every part of it.
The love story between Lucy and Susannah, set in Ireland in the early 90’s, reminded me of a Normal People meets Derry Girls crossover. The ending was bitter sweet and I’m choosing to believe that Lucy and Susannah got their happy ending.

Really heartbreaking and realistic portrayal of teenage self discovery and how this impacts relationships in a coming of age story. I related too much (to Lucy, unfortunately)

cried so hard reading this i felt sick :)

I must go, or we really will end up married. At home, when he is in the shower, I try to think of a way to end our relationship without the world falling apart.

I loved this book! I like coming of age stories and finding out things about yourself, and after watching Derry Girls I wanted to read a story set in Ireland.

Even though my experience growing up was different in so many ways, I found myself relating to Lucy and the way she wasn’t ready to fully be herself because everything would come crashing down. I know that if I had grown up as a girl, I may have found myself in a similar tangle of messy feelings and broken hearts.

The ending was maybe a bit too neat for me, but I liked the way things ended for each character even though there was a lot of heartbreak and fear to sort through.

Also Susannah would have loved Good Luck Babe by Chappell Roan
