The one thing that annoyed me was how some of the plot and side characters were cast aside to focus on the romance. I skimmed some of the very romantic parts like of describing them kissing and stuff because I'm just not interested in that. Still the rest of the book was so wonderfully written I couldn't give it less than 5 stars.

Ok, for one thing, the whole writing style of this was so poetic and beautiful I could come up with 100+ quotes that will jerk tears from my eyes if I reread this. Some sentences made me stop and close the book because they were so glorious, and even more made me gasp out loud in wonder during my Spanish exams.
Lazlo Strange (AKA Strange the Dreamer) is probably the most adorable and innocent thing to ever come into a book. He's so easy to relate to for me, being wrapped up in his own fantasies and books, along with wanting to visit a land of legends, HECK YEAH. I wish I could have a nickname as epic as his, and the fact it fits as the title of this epic book so well makes me start wanting to worship Laini Taylor.
Thyon Nero, I can't figure out whether to hate you or feel so sorry for you due to the burdens you carry. On one hand, you seem convince Lazlo is going to stab you in the back when all he's done is help you, (AND YOU TAKE ALL HIS CREDIT. EVERY. TIME.) But you're situation is...unique. So I'm not sure about you. I'll decide next book
All the "godspawn" were interesting and something to really take a closer look at, and when poor conflicted Sarai died I was ready to cry. Her death was so sudden and referenced the prologue (which took forever to understand, it only becomes clear why a girl fell from the sky until 5 chapters till the end,) and the fact that Minya took control of her ghost really unsettles me. It sets up the next book, but I can see that plot of "Muse of Nightmares" becoming predictable with this new development. I'm still very conflicted and can't really seem to have sympathy for the girl who imprisons ghosts and is willing to hurt one of her only friends, but I understand why Minya does what she does and how Lazlo's godliness will affect her.
Sparrow was probably my favorite godspawn, she was so cute and poor Ruby and Feral crushed her gentle heart. She got them back with her plum wrath, though. I adore her.
The plot of this book was amazing and the characters reacted clearly to every event, making decisions that were never once out of character. It was beautiful and had me enthralled. I know others say it's not fats-paced enough for them, but I thought it was the perfect length, giving everyone a time to take a breath after a big event and cool down or get excited (except for the end, it goes BANG BANG BANG then,) so this was definitely my favorite standalone so far in 2018.
Conclusion: "Strange the Dreamer" was the reason I woke up in the morning for a week.
