I love books like this (mother-daughter relationships, exploring past time periods, friendships)

This book will always be a great read…I’m sure this is my third reread. The GD’s took me out from the first chapter. I love this book. I love the story telling. The southern decorum. The secrets, the snarky comments. This book quenches my nosey thirst, my need for a good story and a good drama. Always a classic.

I liked it, but not as much as I thought I would. For a book that relies so heavily on its characters, I felt strangely unconnected to them. Perhaps the target audience of this book is middle-aged women, the ones who have had time and distance to really appreciate their mothers. As it is, I still thought the book was wonderfully written.

It can be confusing with the story switching between the mother and daughter, but it was a good read!

I loved it. Not the greatest lit, but it just made me appreciate my friends even more even though we're nothing like the Ya Yas.

Good bits: GWTW + MM
Bad bits: It ended too soon.
