I was expecting this to be a light-hearted read and while it was at times, it also deals with some heavy topics. There are themes of grief, misogyny and racism, as well as a mystery subplot I wasn't anticipating. These elements are balanced with funny and heart-warming moments though and I felt very immersed in the setting. I'd have liked to feel a little more connected to the main character because she felt a little surface level but I enjoyed it overall.

This book was a genre I usually wouldn’t choose but I am glad I did. It was a great story but also had three storylines running together. A mystery, meets erotica,meets culture clash. I enjoyed learning about another culture and how that culture has changed its norms over time. Or some have. I enjoyed the humor throughout and seeing women rise above their “roles” and start making changes for themselves and their futures. Excellent story.

One of my favorite reads of 2021. This had been on my list and I had been waiting to read it forever- I knew I would love it and I was right. The widows in the book are funny and I developed a strong connection to all of them, wondering what their desires and typical behaviors were. The mystery in this book was unexpected but executed really well- not predictable at all! If you’re reading this, expect a sweet, sometimes light-hearted but also packed with a punch full of reality, honest, and hopeful book.

This was the first semi serious book I had read in a while.  The story was really good and I loved the characters.  It was not a super light hearted book and was actually quite dark at times but it felt hopeful and told a story that I hadn't really read or seen anywhere else. While it was not the best book I've ever read it was enjoyable.
