The slowest Bosch so far, but even a mediocre Bosch is a darn good read.

I think it's a tough trick to make a thirty year old re-opened case pop and sizzle, but this one steams along okay until the last 150 pages of the book, which sort of turn the heat down. And simmering's nice, but it gets a little hard to take.

Also, I wasn't entirely sure I bought the degree of repercussions on Harry from his department. That's one hell of a guardian angel.

Rereading May 2019.

May 2013: The one where Harry is on therapy leave and tries to solve his mother's long-ago cold-case murder. Again over the top with 'it's this guy' 'no it's that other guy' but very good. A helpful look into Harry's background.
