I loved this magical book - it is my pick for the work-book club. It was a delight!

I loved it for the fourth time march 2014 and countless more times, most recently December 2023.

I really love her writing...as well as the characters. They just seem so down to earth and real, which sometimes you don't get in books.

Easy, readable, ending tied up with a nice little predictable ribbon. Not bad, not special.

I really liked this more than I thought I would. It was enjoyable from the start, but it did take awhile for me to really start caring about the characters.

Better than Garden Spells.

This is a charming little love story. There are several love stories in this book, actually, and they all end well. Of course, they are love stories. Everyone find their true pair.
This is also a book about serendipity, signs, and misunderstanding signs... and daring to be true to oneself, and listening to oneself.
Garden Spells was a bit too like Practical Magic, but this one is, at least to me, totally original.
There were, of course, some things that didn't make any sense to me.
Like, how bad can a child be so that people will remember them as bad even after they never did anything bad after they were nine. "Sure, she send me flowers and get better card to hospital, but she kicked me when she was 6, and I still have the scar!" "She took my piece of chocolate cake when she was 7 and laughed at me because I cried".

Cute story. Another one that deals with a magical aspect. I had part of it figured out rather quickly.

I love the magical realism in Sarah Addison Allen's work. This was a delightful--if predictable--read, but the ending was a bit rushed for my liking.

The feels. I just can't handle them.

spoiler***
I had a feeling about Della Lee from quite early on.. and it was pretty much solidified when she said "I think heaven will be like a first kiss" which is hauntingly beautiful. But even though I felt I knew what was happening, as it unraveled, I found myself tearing up. I can't even explain why it is that I did..
I also found myself reading and then rereading Adam's parts jusy because his realization was so endearing and sweet. Sarah Addison Allen writes magic. She is wonderful. I always know I am going to love her books.
