Eyes on You

Probably a 2.5. This somewhat predictable whodunit boils down to trust no one. Not quite in line with reality but a beach read if you like that sort of thing.

A good, solid thriller!

Protagonist is a dumbass. Every time she had a choice of doing the obvious best thing in the situation, she turns and does the worst. I didn't guess the culprit but I also wasn't surprised. In the end, I didn't care because she was a dumbass.

Predictable, fluffy and uninteresting. Not enough teeth to be classified as a beach read.

I’m not going to lie, I kind of have a little bit of a girl crush on Kate White. Okay, maybe it’s not really a girl crush as much as it is a lot of admiration for her and all that she has accomplished. The Sixes was the first of her books that I had ever read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it and I tend to keep an eye out for her books ever since. Well she has done it again with the soon to be released Eyes on You.

In Eyes on You, we are introduced to our main character Robin just as everything in her life seems to be falling in place after a tumultuous couple of years. Her book is about to be released, the TV show that she is a part of is growing in terms of popularity and her stock is rising in general. But of course things just can’t go alright and keep building from strength to strength with Robin, no someone has it in for her and begins an ever escalating campaign not only to mess with her, but to seriously do her harm. And that is our plot in a nutshell. Is it simple? Absolutely! But it is that same simplicity that makes Eyes on You work so well and flow so easily.

Not all suspense/thriller stories need to have a brilliant academic or lawyer as the main character trying to foil the machinations of a megalomaniac priest or evil conglomerate. Sometimes, the main character and focus of the book can be a regular, but flawed woman, who happens to have a career that is a little more glamorous than average. Sometimes, it’s not about saving the world and instead its about saving your life.

Eyes on You really is a whodunit thriller right from the beginning to end. While there is one character that you will be pretty set on making the bad guy, Kate White throws in twists and turns that keep you guessing right until the end. And let me tell you, when it is all said and done, you will find yourself shaking your head and saying ‘I didn’t see that one coming.’

Did enjoy the book thoroughly, had me guessing until the end!

A very quick read, but I had a pretty good idea on the ending. Her books are always such fun thrillers though. I love that they are high paced so that you just want to keep reading until you reach the end. Recommended.

Robin Trainer is a tv personality with a best-selling book and a successful show. Her career is on the upswing from having lost her job a couple of years before. But someone doesn't like her success. First the pranks are childish--nasty notes, mutilated dolls--but then she's given drugged brownies and acid is put in her makeup. Someone wants her dead, but she's not sure who, and there are loads of potential suspects. When secrets from her past are dredged up, some even believe she is doing this to herself. But it turns out to be her mentor and close friend--there was enough misdirection that this did come out of left field.
