What do you get when you cross a dead girl, a manic pixie dream girl, a homecoming queen, and a half-baked villain? A really, really, really terrible book. I can't even imagine teenagers taking this one seriously.
Sin más. La historia está bien pero le sobran diálogos.
Best thing about this book series is the cover/book design. Otherwise, the plot and characterisation is pretty basic and run-of-the-mill.
Ghostgirl was so utterly charming I found, after you learn to adapt to Charlotte's utter emotastic attitude.
I loved Scarlet, even if she was your stereotypical goth-punk-outcast girl. The point was everyone was so beautifully stereotypically because sometimes they turn out to be truth.
But I digress.
Homecoming lacked all of the charm that Ghostgirl had and then some.
Charlotte was whinier than ever and seemed to have ultimately retained nothing that she learned from her previous adventure. And the newfound love between estranged sisters over a freak accident was too Sunday School Special for my tastes.
The only redeeming things about this book, that I didn't finish and have no desire to finish, were the quotes and art work at the beginning of each chapter. That was the only thing I skimmed through for before returning this atrocity.
Unless you're a diehard Charlotte fan, do yourself a favor and skip this. Or go be completely inappropriate and hang around the middle school nearest you to find the real life version of Charlotte to torture yourself with.
Your choice.

This was another I've had it for a few years and I'm only just reading it.
So this was the second Ghost Girl book out of three and it was fairly enjoyable. I do feel like I might have enjoyed it more if I'd read it when I was younger but it wasn't bad.
There were some issues like with Charlotte saying she knew a certain person was bad all along only for there to have been no hints throughout the book. The writing was also a little meh at times but funnily enough, it did really succeed at character and emotion.
This book has you judging Scarlet and feeling for Petula, you may she'd tears over Virginia and you'll feel what the characters feel in general. Tonya Hurley has successfully pointed out how stupid girl hate is and has made you feel for the popular girl in a novel where you think you'd hate her. And I do have to applaud that. I'm hoping to see more of Petula in the third book now.

Covers are beautiful, but this didn’t hold my attention. The page headers are also beautiful and I would buy the whole collection for them alone. I read the wiki on this and loved it, but reading the actual book just didn’t hold up.
