I’ve cried so much through my 7 tissues, I could water a plant because this is such a lovely and wholesome story about love and grief and so much of it was relatable. It was exactly what I needed.

Benji, The Gentleman™️, has my whole heart, alive or ghostly. Every interaction between Florence and Benji softened my heart more and more.

Ashley Poston, you have a way with words. I found a little bit of myself in this book. Please tell us your comfort fanfic so we too can be comforted.

This story surprised me the most. I wasn’t sure if I would like it starting out because it was a little slow. I also wasnt sure if the whole paranormal aspect would be of interest to me. However, I was pleasantly surprised.

I really enjoyed that Florence was an author for romance books, and her journey to loving love again. She went through something really difficult, and it changed her but throughout the book she regains her trust in romance. My favorite component, though is that Benji was the one who believed in love and the optimism love can bring.

The plot twist was a such a relief to have. As you read the story, really wanted for us to have her optimistic, romantic ending. The way the story eventually turns really made this a enjoyable and happy read.

Not really sure what to say about this book other than the fact it was bad. I'm really no expert in the romance genre, so it was hard to know what may be a trope of the genre as opposed to something specific to Poston's style but either way it just didn't work for me. I found the dialogue to be unrealistic and cringe rather than the cynical/funny angle it seemed to be going for, the premise irritating and pretty much all the characters annoying. It beat any sense of emotion or heart out of the plot, including what should have been a significant grief storyling. The only thing I was rooting for was for it to end.

The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston features the protagonist, Florence Day - a writer, ghostwriter, and an unwilling medium for the dead.

I love the name Florence Day, but I did not care too much for the characters constant self-deprecating demeanor. Her insecurities were so loud throughout the story and were the driving force behind much of the plot. So much "woah is me"...

Many things, and not all of them very important, were repeated throughout the story. The ending concerning Florence and Benji was one that I guessed before I was halfway through with the novel but it was still a good ending with a HEA.

Overall, it was an ok story and an easy read that left me with a generally heartwarming feeling.
I also appreciated the "behind the book" from the author.

This was the first book of Ashley Poston that I have read, & I will definitely check out her other novels.
