A play version of the Diary of Anne Frank. Pretty good. We read it in school. I enjoyed the story. Not as good as the real book though.

“The Frank family were Jews. They fled from Germany to Holland in 1933 to avoid the persecution of the Nazis, but in 1940 Holland was invaded and the persecution caught up with them again. The Jewish race was seen by the Nazi rulers as the enemies of Germany. The Jew was pictured on poster and propaganda sheet as the debaser of the 'purity' of the German race; every difficulty and evil was seen as the fault of the lews and the whole government machine was behind the branding and attacking of the Jews. Even children's books were written that declared:
‘The Jew is the devil in human form'. Hitler's last words before his death were to repeat the old message: I impose on the leadership and following of the nation the obligation to hold fast to the racial laws and to carry on unmerciful resistance to the world poisoner of all nations - international Jewry.”
- The Play of ‘The diary of Anne Frank’ by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett
.
.
I have read the diary of Anne Frank last few months so reading this play simply to gain at least new perspective of what Anne Frank has gone through. The play also demonstrated how talented and brilliant both Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett in capturing the emotions and the technicalities of what Anne Frank wrote in her diary. I don’t have to emphasise much as the content of the drama play is pretty much similar with the diary but via play, the audience can truly get the hanged of what at stakes, if they are loud, if they failed to compromise, if they don’t follow the rules. You can see how they tiptoeing around in their hidden place, calculating and worrying that someday people are going to find out. Thats what i get from pictures of the play that were attached in the boom. Overall, a short but important reading. Maybe, this will help you to get a bigger picture of her life and her self that you missed from her diary.

I enjoyed this book more as a teenager than I did as an adult. That’s probably because the themes in this book are very gears towards adolescents. As a teen I thought Anne’s thoughts about Peter were exciting, but now as an adult I find them annoying. It’s a great historical book though, and great for teaching stuff about Hitler and WWII.

A haunting but necessary tale to experience, especially in these days. The story of Anne Frank is one that every person should experience. My heart aches immensely by the end of the story.

This book was okay. I don’t read nonfiction that much. Usually my favorite parts of the book are the romance bits, and Peter and Anne only had one kiss and one hug I think. I wish the book was longer, and had more details about Anne in the camps, but I know that she couldn’t have had the diary in the camps. I read this book for school.
