This book will make everybody want to be a feminist. It loses only one star for the vulgarity of language, but aside from that, Bates perfectly captures what its like to be a woman and a person in general.

Because what do we not want?
Pistachio ice cream.

What do we want?
Honestly, Beyoncé.

And we believe that women and men are equally as awesome (unless they’re, as an individual, a sexist pig).

One of the most thought provoking, influential books I've read. Would recommend to everyone. You can read my full review at https://ellamariereads.wordpress.com/2016/07/24/a-book-review-girl-up-by-laura-bates/

Perhaps would recommend for (young) women between 13 and 21. Great examples, great advice, as inclusive as possible.

While I enjoyed this book, it was definitely intended for a younger or less informed audience.

4,5. A great book, really, but I’m not the intended audience. Would give it 5 stars if I read it in my teenage/early young adult years. But it’s packed with information and narrated in a funny, light-hearted way while still tackling difficult issues so props for that! Kinda want to give the book to my younger cousins tuk membekali mereka and hoping they’d get nicer experiences and handling the experience better than me.

Everyone should read this especially those at a young age like 13/14 because it tackles so much that age group will benefit from as they grow older or are currently experiencing. It deals with social media, body image, mental health, sex, slut-shaming, sexism, etc. but it also has humor, resources, images/art (like dancing vaginas), etc.

I began reading this for the purposes of writing an essay for my college English class, but once I started it, I just couldn't stop. This book covers everything that women and teen girls alike have ever needed to hear. We can be independent and fight back (girl up) against the patriarchy and the industries that are trying to tear us down. I recommend this book to all women and men, I think this will give you an understanding of the life of being a female in a society that refuses to see you as a human being.
