Would have rated much higher if Picoult had less detail about Egyptology and quantum physics. Sometimes it was just bogged down in detail. I really enjoyed and found fascinating the death doula aspect of the story.

This was one of her hardest books to get through. I usually LOVE every single one of Jodi’s books but this one fell flat. Too much Egyptian background and terminology that the story got left behind. It was also hard to keep up with the time frame because it kept skipping back and forth from the past to the present and in between. I had a hard time figuring out if what was happening was the past, present or future. I was disappointed in this one, sadly because the story line could have been another great one!

I have always loved Egyptian history and you can tell this book was well-researched! However, I would have to agree with many other reviews that it had a LOT of educational material and it almost overshadows the main storyline. I still enjoyed the book, I just wish it had more going on with it. Since I listened to it on audiobook while I was multi-tasking, it's possible that I might have missed something for an even deeper meaning of the material, but ultimately it was just a fun read and not much more.

2.5 stars, rounded up to 3.

Book is third person POV written both in past and present tense (because it jumps back and forth in time).
