Wow. That is one of the best endings of a series I have ever read.
Why did I love this book so much?
Well, first of all, I love the characters. Higgins manages to use just the right amount of good and bad in every character. None of the characters are just good – you know, the perfect, really annoying kind? – but they aren’t just bad, either. It’s a fine line to walk, and Higgins manages it perfectly. I won’t go into details about the characters, because I’ve already done that twice in my reviews for Sweet Evil and Sweet Peril, let’s just say they’re as awesome as usual.
I have to mention Kaidan. I think the most interesting thing about this series is watching Kaidan’s change. For those of you who have already read The Sweet Trilogy, you know what I’m talking about. I won’t say too much, because I don’t want to spoil anything for you,but let’s just say he’s a different person in the end of Sweet Reckoning than he was in Sweet Evil. It will be interesting to read Sweet Temptation and see it from his perspective. I already marked the date in my calendar.
I also have the sweetest quote by Kai I’d like to share with you.
“You’re my dream. My only dream.”
Stuff like this makes me wish I could have my very own book-boyfriend.
There is less focus on the love triangle!
Those of you who read my review of Sweet Peril know how agitated I was because of it. For those of you who didn’t, here’s the short version; when I started reading Sweet Evil, I did not expect a love triangle, and I was not happy when there was one.
But it’s over in Sweet Reckoning. No love triangle. This was such awesome news!
Another thing I’ve loved about the whole series, not just Sweet Reckoning, is the prologues. I think all three of them give you a pretty good insight of the book, and the prologue to this one especially. It’s a good introduction.
Let’s talk about… the plot.
“We, the Nephilim, were going to rid the earth of demons, and I was slated to lead the way.”
That quote explains what this book is about. I like the plot.In Sweet Peril, it ended with the Dukes figuring out that some Neph are planning to rebel against them, and an event that had me in tears. Sweet Reckoning picks up right where Sweet Peril ends in a very nice way, with a prologue from some of the Dukes’ perspective.
Welcome to an ending that will make you weep.
I won’t say too much, but I haven’t cried that much at the end of a series since Allegiant. Make of that what you will.
Sweet Reckoning has it all; heart-stopping suspense, swoon-worthy romance and a heartbreaking ending.

I am kind of still in shock that I just finished this series. Just a couple of months ago, I picked up the first book because it had been sitting on my TBR for way too long…and then I just had to read the second one…and then I waited for this last one. I put off reading this so it wouldn’t be over. But then I heard about the spinoff being written from Kaidan’s point of view, and I was a little more okay with this.
The first two books in this series were so good…and I think was just a little bit less than the other two. It wasn’t a bad ending and I didn’t hate it, but it just didn’t feel the same as reading the other two. First, there was a whole lot less romantic/sensual scenes (contrary to the summary) than the other two books, especially the second one. I actually liked this for the most part. It showed that Kaidan and Anna’s relationship was growing. I felt a little uncomfortable with where it went in this book (if you read it, you know. trying to avoid spoilers here!), but I liked that it went beyond the lust-y relationship that it could come off as in Sweet Peril. Kaidan’s character was still so great. I love him. SO HAPPY he is getting his own point of view. YAYYYYYY!!!
Anna has really come so far since the beginning of the series. Of course, I could guess how it was going to end (and it did end that way) but it was still fun to get there. There were no big plot shockers. It just went straight to where it has been building since Sweet Evil. I did like the minor plots that the other characters went on though. Jay got such a huge part of this book, as did Marna and Ginger. I love all three of those characters, so I was happy to see more of them. Kope, Zania, and Blake were all back too. They didn’t contribute too much to the storyline this time, but it was good to see the whole gang together again. (Although if Anna was going to refer to them as allies one more time, I was going to slap her. Through the book. She said it so many times!!)
The last big scene was really nice. I think the people that died were not expected, but they were fulfilled. No one died without reason, although I would have liked to see a bit more sadness over the deaths. They were kind of just shoved aside in the moment. The epilogue was sweet, although it took place only five years later…I just felt like everyone got their life together a little bit too quickly. Maybe not. I don’t know what happens post college.
I think my main problem with this book was that it felt really rushed to get to the end, but then it just kind of fell off without a big deal. That last battle scene should have been longer and more dramatic than it was. And the whole first part of the book just dragged on a little bit too long. These books are always quick, fun reads. I wasn’t expecting for this to suddenly switch, but the other books are paced a little bit better. There was really only one major part in the entire first section of the book that really mattered to the plot.
Anyway, overall, I really suggest this series! It’s really fun and the romance is great. While it’s not too big on the paranormal, there are some really unique aspects to the angels/demons concept that’s been around. The first book is Sweet Evil if you want to get started with this really fun series!

I loved this book! I was fangirling so hard for the last two chapters that my mom actually thought there was something wrong with me. I don't think this book could have had a better ending.
*This review is spoilerfree:)
First of all, I didn't expect for me to be so inlove with this series. I really felt so touched by everything that happened in this book! Marna is probably one of my favorite characters in this whole series. She was just so perfectly developed and I really felt for everything she went through. I even started to really like Ginger in the end of this book!
Kaidan is so swoon worthy that I can't really describe him. I could feel a little of to much chessy teenage drama in both this book and in the series. That other than that is this one the quickest books I have read in a long time.
I would recommend this series to anyone that want an quick read if you want to come over your readingslump because this book is so easy the read!

I think i need more Kaidan and Anna moment here LOL. The fight was really short , its not so thrilling . So i only rated it 3.5 stars .
I am rating purely on sheer enjoyment. I loved this book. I loved this series in general, but was so, SO happy with the finale! I was worried it would be disappointing, but my worries were futile! Wendy Higgins pulled off another incredible novel with an engaging story, captivating characters, fascinating lore... and let's not forget to mention the SWOON FEST that is this book. HOLY MOLY guys, I was reading this.. certain part, after a certain event in the story, in a very public and busy mall food court and let's just say, my cheeks were a littleeeee red. Or maybe a lot.
