Tied together very nicely at the end with inspiring and hopeful messaging about sobriety. Although, I found Kiedis’s descriptions of young women as a much older man quite disturbing at times. Not a great person but he’s certainly lived a lot of life in his few decades of life.

Overall some interesting stories, especially when he described his adventures overseas. That said, it’s quite repetitive between drugs, sex, drugs, sex, etc.

I don’t know if i left reading this book with more or less respect for Kiedis. I came here for the sex, drugs, and rock and roll but was rather uncomfortable by the predatory patterns he openly admits to, even glorifies...despite that, it is a riveting, heartbreaking story of a man who managed to get clean after battling for decades, and i can’t help but have respect for that.
Id give it a higher rating, but ultimately mans is all kinds of problematic and im sad that it’s now tainted how i listen to rhcp.

Definitely one of the best books I've ever read. It grabbed me from the very first page, and didn't let go to the very end. Intriguing, shocking at times, and so well written. I will definitely be re-reading this.

Oh my god I love rhcp (especially John frusciante) but this book was so freaking long. A lot of unnecessary details, although I really liked hearing about the recording of their albums. Anthony kedis is really weird but I didn’t need to read this book to know that. I wish frusciante had a memoir. Hopefully Flea’s book is better. This wasn’t a BAD book just super duper long.

I just can’t listen to him any more. All he wrote was how he got high and had sex and the way he spoke about women (and sometimes young girls) was disgusting. I only got through about half before I had to stop. He’s a terrible person and I hate RHCP even more now.

This book used to be my comfort book when I was a teen and I read it a billion times back then. I sympathised with AK and the fact he redeemed himself in many aspects. As an adult I had forgotten how many problematic behaviours were still very much glorified in this book. The lack of growth on those aspects in an adult man unsettled me and aged like milk. Still love RHCP and can appreciate AK for a lot of stuff but I wish he also addressed some his problematic behaviours without glorifying them.

This book absolutely blew me away and I never realised how colourful a life Anthony led as a child and growing up in to adulthood. His life at time seemed like a fever dream, like sharing a bed with a naked Cher as a young lad just for starters. It was also incredible to find out that he found and befriended who would be Red Hot Chilli Peppers alongside him, I didn't realise they had been friends for that long. Thoroughly enjoyed and glad I got to read this before the film is put together.
