This book absolutely blew me away and I never realised how colourful a life Anthony led as a child and growing up in to adulthood. His life at time seemed like a fever dream, like sharing a bed with a naked Cher as a young lad just for starters. It was also incredible to find out that he found and befriended who would be Red Hot Chilli Peppers alongside him, I didn't realise they had been friends for that long. Thoroughly enjoyed and glad I got to read this before the film is put together.

I would recommend reading this if you really like RHCP but keep in mind it’s very slow paced. Not because it wasn’t interesting I just found it hard to keep reading such a drawn out story.

After a reread I've changed my review to a four star. Some of the more problematic themes were harder to read the second time.
Im still a Hugh fan of RHCP and so glad I had this book to get me through the time I was experiencing when I first read it. It'll always be special to me for that reason. Fleas book is next.

(old review) Loved it. It's a read you won't forget.

:( seen an interview with Tony where he says he regrets writing the book at all. He said something along the lines of, 'what a stupid idea. It never occurred to me that anyone would actually read it.'
