He’s a manwhore who broke up with h via leaving a
Letter after college
When he gets drafted into the NFL. She tried to call hIm cause she’s pregnant but he changed his number. Years pass and she’s dating a famous actor during a televised interview H finds out he has a daughter. This was a
Bit far fetched and boring.

This is straight out of wattpad aint it

Every now and again, you come across a character that is so special you just know that nothing will ever be the same after meeting them. A character so unique, so catalytic, so memorable and important that you instantly know they will change the course of a story, a series- hell, even a genre. A character whose spark is so explosive that no matter what the scene, what the circumstance, you are drawn to them. A character who will stay with you long after you close to the final page.. Colby Hendrix is that character. And finally, we have his story.

We met him as a scene-stealing side character, never intended to be much more than comedic effect, but we soon realize that Colby is so much more than that, and he certainly refuses to be relegated to the background- it’s why we love him. Oh, and love him we do. Fans everywhere have worn their love for Colby loud and proud for two books now- he’s our unicorn. And oh, dear readers, Kelsey has done him justice. This book- OH MY GOODNESS- this book is perfect. This is everything we love about Colby, and OH SO MUCH MORE.

Our dimpled football playboy is a ray of sunshine, he’s the beating heart of our books thus far- but a past mistake comes back to haunt him, resulting in the surprise of a lifetime in the form of a 5 year old girl who has his dimples and his eyes. Our sweet man does what’s right, leading him back to a girl who is now a woman that he once left behind. Rediscovering their relationship, while forming one with the mini-dynamo Brenna, is the heart of this story- and oh, how Colby shines.

Colby is just as we imagined him- and even better. I love him so much more from reading this- he’s hands down my favorite Kelsey hero and one of my favorite book boyfriends of all time. He’s funny and loving and so damn charismatic, but here we see all the layers of his heart that we got glimpses of with Lennon. We see his focus and ambition, we get to admire his patience and empathy, we get to see his kind heart and protective nature. But, most importantly, we get to see his vulnerability. Oh, and of course, we get to see this dirty talking sweetheart in the bedroom- and I’m pretty sure I’m pregnant. And Saige, oh Saige is the perfect match. She’s calm, stoic, resilient and patient, fearful yet hopeful, and a gentle soul with a quiet strength. This story is not about her “taming” him, oh no- this is more about someone amplifying what makes Colby special, and being the right kind of special for him, too.

This book definitely has a different tonal quality than Kelsey’s other books- and it should, these characters are older and more self-assured. And, these characters already know each other- this is a second chance romance- so the foundation has already been set. Not only that, but these are two people trying to be responsible for their child. That makes for a narrative that is more grounded, markedly more mature in approach, and more nuanced emotionally. Our characters aren’t overly dramatic, they communicate, they apologize and are patient and forgiving. And they put their child, and ultimately their partner, over themselves. MY GOD, how refreshing it is to see that kind of healthy relationship and trust building. No games, not deceit- just straight forward chemistry and mutual respect that builds its way back into love. I could not stop swooning. I fell madly in love with this couple.

That doesn’t mean there isn’t drama and some obstacles- Colby’s career has always been a threat to their relationship and is now more dangerous than ever given his fame. And Saige has a lot of baggage, not to mention a pretty high profile situation of her own. Saige just needs to feel chosen, to feel FIRST, and Colby, well Colby has been chasing a feeling he didn’t even understand he once had. And when these two finally find their way back- FIREWORKS! PURE EXPLOSIVE MAGIC. Because to each other, they are that one true thing.

What I loved best, though, is how Kelsey actually gives us TWO love stories. This isn’t just a love story of soulmates finding their way back to each other, now with the maturity to make it work that they didn’t have before. This is also the love story of a man falling in love with his daughter. And her falling in love with him. And that, oh my ovaries, is so incredibly special, so moving, so beautiful. You thought you loved Colby as a friend? Just wait until you see him as a lover...and even more so, as a father. NO MAN WILL EVER COMPARE. And narratively, Kelsey unfolds both romances so thoughtfully. She makes this a slower burn, so that Saige and Colby can first figure out how to be co-parents, so that we can revel in the Colby-Brenna magic before we dig too deeply into the Saige and Colby baggage. This gives us such an emotional experience- joy, pain, laughter, tears. This story just has so much heart.

Hendrix is PURE MAGIC. This is Kelsey Clayton's best work to date- beautiful, insightful, and deeply touching. A captivating story of a man falling in love with his family. And a story of two individuals trying to reconcile the fear of past pain with the hope of future wholeness. Kelsey shows us that even the ones we love the most make mistakes, but that love is not about perfection, it is about prioritization. And that with care, even what seems irreparable can be mended. Kelsey has given us such a beautiful, emotional, and lively story befitting the character we’ve come to adore so much. Colby will always hold my heart. I'm absolutely obsessed with this book.

Liked the plot and thought it was good but wish it was longer and think that a DV plot needs more time and to be developed more. Was good and will probs read more from the author

I regret not reading the Haven series before this, but in my defense, I have never read any books by this author and didn't know that they were interconnected. However, this was still an amazing read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this second chance romance. All the characters are extremely flawed, but I was in a reading slump so I didn't really care all that much when reading. Overall, cute story.

secret fave trope

Saige and Colby are steamyyy. They definitely went through some hard times but made it threw in the end. This trope is slowly becoming my fave guilty pleasure and sweet little Brenna just added to that! Love getting more of the story then the spice, it was honestly wonderful!

So. many. feels.

I’ll be honest, secret baby isn’t my go-to trope. I was in the mood for a standalone and I’m making my way through Kelsey’s backlist so this was the perfect choice.

The storyline is much as you would expect. What makes Hendrix different is Kelsey’s ability to make you feel every single emotion right along with these characters: the pain and fear Saige endured, the effervescent joy Brenna experienced, the regret Colby suffered.

I deeply loved this story and feel genuinely satisfied with every page.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Umm I read some of these reviews of people saying that colby is a creeper and is spending all his time with teenagers but I did not even notice the teenagers since Lennon is the only girl but she’s even a teenager and onto saige I hate her so much like she tries to find reasons to keep colby away from his daughter and she’s just so annoying and that one scene in the kitchen annoyed me so much and all the characters were annoying either that or I just don’t like the authors writing style all in all this was a solid 2 stars it was ok just not great

honestly i found many wrongs in their relationship.

they are always snapping at each other for most part of the book. i didn’t feel any chemistry between them. he brings down other woman to make her feel better. he hooks up with a girl just so his friend wouldn’t make fun of him and that he was literally flirting with someone else moments before they kissed.

the only good thing in their relationship was brenna. she saved it all.
