This book is a very nice story that has an interesting premise. Mr. Wells did a good job having the science part of how the man became invisible; I wasn't expecting the details that went into the talk between Griffin and Dr. Kemp. It was pretty interesting reading about all the mayhem Griffin caused and am very relieved that this man wasn't a doctor but am not at all surprised that someone as big a jerk as Griffin was a teacher. Definitely have had a few professors with Griffin's attitude.
Even though the book was enjoyable it was not a perfect story. I cannot believe that NO ONE in the English countryside that ran into Griffin came up with the idea of throwing some paint on the invisible man to make him visible. The bar owner who owns a gun was smarter than most people out there as he had a plan to injure the invisible man and stuck with it. The other characters are pretty good to read about too but Griffin is definitely supposed to be an unlikeable character who has a backstory EVERYONE wants to know about.

I read this book a few years ago and I really loved it. H.G.Wells' writing is so gripping and the way he draws you into his stories is amazing. I love the idea of a man who is invisible and I love the way Wells captured the feelings of such a situation. I love me some wells though

I definitely found this one a lot easier to follow and understand in comparison to The War of The Worlds. I really appreciate the effort H.G Wells puts into making events sound not just plausible, but scientifically accurate. It's never just "oh he drank a potion now he's invisible" there's careful thought put into explaining how it happened. While the science stuff reads like jargon to my uneducated brain, I can recognise when a great deal of imagination has gone into making the impossible appear possible.
I also learned that back in the 1800s "ejaculating" meant exclaiming. You learn something new everyday!

Due to this book having been written in the 19th Century, there is outdated and potentially offensive language.

the first half was much stronger than the second half, although the last 10% wasn't too bad. there was just a lot of mr invisible telling us exactly what he's done for the past few years or whatever, and then a little bit of chase . i quite liked the discussions around free will and stuff but maybe i could have taken it in more as a physical book. my basic summary: it was fun except when it was boring.
