The classics are still out there and pretty great. I loved the unsettling themes in this book and Griffin's rise to villainy.

Just finished and not quite sure what to make of it. As an adventure story, it holds up well, especially for a novel from 1897. As to thematic significance, other than a bit about ethics and a good dose of Victorian anxiety about science, I'm still mulling it over. Wells' characters tend to be static and are often, outside of the main few, little more than types, but there's something refreshing in the confidence of his narrative voice.
