Just as cute and wholesome as part 1. Heartwarming.

However if you are a young person and have a friend who’s suicidal don’t feel like it’s just up to you to save them. They need professional help. Always be nice to the people you care about but sometimes niceness is just not enough. The regret and duty the characters felt is too much. Kakeru (and his mom in that matter) needs professional help.

I’ve reached the end of the series. There is a sequel that I have yet to read which I will be reading soon. This is so heartbreaking and the depiction of mental illness in this book is so real and true that at times my heart palpitates and I get a little breathless when I read it. So trigger warnings for self-hate and suicide attempt.

I’m so glad I bought this book. It’s a very hopeful story and a great escape from the harsh real world where people suffering from depression and anxiety do not always get awesome friends like the friends in Orange. Definitely would want to re-read this in the future.

I gave this part of the book a solid 5 stars.

Ichigo Takano included a short story at the end of the book called Haruiro Astronaut. According to Takano, she started the short story as she “just wanted to draw a super cute girl” and then ended up “drawing a super hot guy to go with her”.

The protagonists were high school twin sisters who were trying to understand what dating a boy means. The younger twin, Mami-chan was very popular among the boys because she was so cute. The elder one, Chiki-chan was Mami-chan’s shadow. Then they somehow got involved with the popular basketball guys in school—Yui-kun and Natsuki-kun and things just got interesting from there.

I enjoyed the plot although I found certain aspects of the characters’ choices and behaviour a little cringe-y and toxic but I think it worked itself out at the end. Overall, it was a fun read and I gave this portion of the book 4.5 stars.

This series was incredible. I had never read another series that both made me cry in sadness as well as cry tears of joy. This series just warms my heart so much and I wish I could read it again for the first time again again.
