The Pluses: rollicking atmosphere, humorous writing.
The Minuses: thin and sometimes disjointed plot, some side characters are flat.
The Bottom Line: a pleasant cozy mystery, worth a read more for the writing than the plot.

It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t my cup of tea. I was able to finish it (hoping that it would at some point get more interesting). I think it was just a bit lackluster for me. Like it just sort of touched on all things I was hoping for from it. It skimmed the magic for me, there just wasn’t enough of it. It fizzled on the romance. The mystery was kind of muddled between everything else going on. And I just wasn’t blown away by the writing. At some points I either lost interest and forgot what I read or truly was just dropped in and couldn’t figure out what was going on. I love banter when but this just seemed very unplanned to me. Maybe I’m just not truly a fan of cozy mysteries but this just wasn’t my cup of tea.

A fun and surprisingly entertaining read. I love finding a new book and author and love it even more when it's a start to a new series!
