This is a terrible, racist book by terrible racist people who seem to genuinely believe that they were the first people *in human history* to explore part of the Kalahari desert. And they kept getting into bother because they were stupid, arrogant and ill-prepared.

Absolutely loved this! Anyone who loves  wildlife and learning about wildlife will enjoy this book. Both Delia and Mark write in a way that is very easy to read. I felt like I could really relate to this one and it brought me right back to the summer I spent in South Africa.

Delia and Mark Owen take a massive risk, saying goodbye to their lives in America, to embark on the experience of a lifetime in the Botswanan bush, which turns into their lifes work. You'll meet Lions, Hyena, Jackles, Hornbills and many more. A really good insight into how the world of wildlife research works. You'll feel the passion, the fear, the love and the awe of both the authors as they learn about their new four-legged friends, and may even shed a few tears with them too.
