In a small town tucked into the rolling hills of Tennessee, humans and paranormals live a cozy and comfortable coexistence, enjoying the charms of small town life away from the scrutiny of prejudice. For Reagan Baker, Shadow Hills has always felt like home - a human from a family of witches, she's content with her bookstore job, her friends, and the small dramas and delights of a simple life. When a run-in with an ex-boyfriend turns scary, Regan is startled to find that her easygoing friendship with her friend Jaime is waxing like the moon into something more than easy protectiveness and affection. Jaime himself is struggling with his emotions, his secret love for his high school best friend, and his status as an in-the-closet werewolf - and Regan's boyfriend problems happening days before the full moon may just change everything forever.

YES this was just the palate cleanser I needed and made me really excited for spooky season in just a short five months! This book was described as a low-stakes, friends-to-lovers, paranormal cozy small-town romance, and IT. DELIVERED. I loved the Gilmore Girls X Halloweentown vibes and felt like we as readers got more than enough exposition here to really build out the cozy paranormal town of our dreams as we enjoyed the play between Jaime and Reagan - which I think is actually really hard to do in shorter books sometimes. I was charmed, I enjoyed the banter and spice, I am very curious about what other spooky scary skeletons are hiding in this cute little town, and I am craving the release of autumn leaves and crisp fresh new books from an indie bookstore because of this book, which is great because the next book in this series just came out!
