[3.3] enjoyed this more than the last novella but i’m also terribly underwhelmed by the short bursts of semi-communication sprinkled throughout, half of which are (rudely) interrupted by baddies, sexual impulses, etc. while i’m sure the author is saving it for book 2, the novellas have dragged this out longer than my patience can take

Action, emotion, love, caring, betrayal.....this one had it all, and it’s a free intermediate read!!
We get Ethan’s pov in the first vignette when he is surprised by Jack whilst in Jack’s flat. After leaving his message he leaves much to Jack’s disgust.
Then using Ethan’s intel, Jack and Harry head to Canberra to stop a kidnap. Whilst things don’t go quite to plan, Jack Harry and Ethan fight out of adversity to save the day but at such a cost, I was a very sad reader then.
Then onto Jack’s enforced leave and off to Vietnam - and fab scenery descritions, with some time for the guys to recharge it was looking all very relaxing, until Bam! Mercs and gunfights and rocket blasts!
Exhausted but so many emotions in this one. Roll on book 2!

Team Jathan all the freaking way man!!!!

Years ago I would have avoided this book like the plague. I hate action books or anything to do with suspense as a matter of fact. However I am glad to have found this author right here, and even happier to have read this book. Why? Because of JATHAN!

When I comes to killing, Ethan Blade is the man to call. It's something he's good at, something that he knows inside and out. Also cars and racing, he knows those too. But put him in a relationship with a guy who he is growing all too comfortable with, and he is out of his league. With trying to stay three steps ahead of self-made schedule, take out an assassin who has a his name written in her ledger, and assess his feelings for Jack, Ethan has his plate full.

Jack is still trying to figure out Ethan, find out this assassin who wants him dead, and focus on his career. But with Ethan coming and going without notice and his job taking a toll on him, Jack finds himself in unfamiliar territory. Can Jack and Ethan's relationship survive the turmoil that is their lives? What EXACTLY is their relationship and the boundaries that it entails?

This novella answers both those questions! I could go on and ruin it for you but I won't, instead I'm going to let you discover it all on your own. That way you can go through this emotion rollercoaster ride. Have fun dudes.

This is fun and cute and tbh I wanted nothing more. Still, I can't really give it more stars given the writing feels a bit rough at times. Typos happen to everyone, of course, so it didn't stop me from enjoying the storyline but they still make you stumble a bit while reading.

I really, really hope Jack's going to kiss Ethan when they're not having sex cause I'm a romantic at heart.

Last thing: am I the only one who's a bit bothered (or maybe slightly put off) by how often the whole skin colour difference is brought up? Especially since it's done in purely sexual contexts 90% of the time. A few times here and there it wouldn't have jumped out at me, but through out all the books I've read so far it's highlighted so many times. And it leaves me a bit baffled, like we're sometimes veering slightly towards fetishism ?? Idk, I'm just thinking out loud a this point.

Anyway: fun! romance! action! vulnerability!

Wow!! Wow wow wow, I love this series SO MUCH.

This books aren't full books but they were SO necessary for Jack and Ethan's story - and also this one felt like a full length novel. The location amount in kindle was over 3000, which has to be close to 200 pages or well over 200 pages. That's a full length novel to me, compared to the other short stories.

In this last short story before the next full length novel, we FINALLY get one of the short stories in Ethan's POV, and getting insight into his mind and his feelings for Jack was awesome and amazing and so fun. I hope we get some POV from him in the second book. That would be awesome.

And no, Jack and Ethan STILL HAVE NOT BLOODY KISSED! ARGH! I'm going to scream with how long it is taking. But they are so fucking close to it and it better be fucking explosive and amazing and passionate when it happens because we all have been technically waiting for 5 damn books now.

I also hope we get to learn so much more about Ethan's past. My biggest thing is why he has to wear socks basically at all times. Like what happened with his feet that he wants them covered all the time? I'm curious about the giving a blowjob thing to, if Ethan really doesn't like to give it or if it's more. And if Paul is really his real name, and so on and so forth. So much we still don't know!

And okay, despite the no kiss (yet!) it came soooo fucking close to happening several times and they do get to a much more solid place, relationship wise, in this one. That made my heart sing and I felt giddy. Also these two finally talking about real shit was awesome.

There was one thing that made me so freaking sad
SpoilerHarry dying. Like wtf?! We only got to know him in these novella's, but I really liked him and he was a great friend to Jack. It was so unfair! :(

GAH! I can't wait for the next book. And I am so happy for these novella's that got Jack and Ethan's barely there relationship to a much more solid, secure place, and
Spoilerpretty much a relationship. It's still in the early stages, but there is the commitment there to try :D
.

Two massive thumbs up from me. Loved this!!! <3

I rarely do short stories, even those in the series I truly enjoy. But I have read all the stories in this series impatiently waiting for the second addition to this series.

And I have to admit that there is a lot going on in this book. Some things are really crucial for the whole story of Jack and Ethan. I'm even surprised that these short stories are not included in the second book, since they are very important for the development of the dynamics in these guy's relationship. I'm so glad I read this book and now I'm even more eager to read the second book in this series as soon as possible.

Layers and layers... This novella is SO GOOD.

If you haven't read about the spy and the assassin yet, go buy Where Death Meets the Devil (Death and the Devil #1). If you're unsure, just read the e-sample. I dare you not to become intrigued by Jack, and the assassin who he inadvertently captivates.
