Despite the valiant effort to pull things together at the end, I can't really recommend this book. It is what it is, and that's a book that wasn't good enough to be published when it was written, but is being published now because it's guaranteed to make money. It was Raising Arizona without the humor or interesting characters. By the end of the book, we're left with a handful of characters that we've never met, which is fine, because the ones you spend the whole book with weren't that interesting in the first place.
