Yawn

i found this romance SO freaking sweet and it made me believe in true love. i loved the discussions of how an unexpected pregnancy can both positively and negatively affect one's entire life and how they interact with other people, especially potential future lovers. i found myself relating A LOT to delilah, especially
how she will immediately take on the responsibility of other's actions -- that hurt me and made me feel seen all at the same time.
i definitely recommend!

this was a miserable read. it just wasn't written well i think.

at first i assumed it was because of how much I didnt fucking like Rowan at all as a person...but later realized that no. i still hate Rowan dont get me wrong but I've read books with shitty characters before and still ended up giving the book 5 stars. soooo yea shitty writing made me not like the way the characters were portrayed in the book.

the book was also wayyy longer than what it needed to be for the level of depth the author put in. the characters are very surface level and the setting was never fully flushed out. all the characters, even the main ones, feel like minor characters and fell very flat. the setting felt like a backdrop or an afterthought, not much description wise or in setting the mood for me as a reader. i've read journal entries where i felt more involved in the setting. a lot of parts could have been cut out as they were repetitive. this very much could have been a short story.

the ending of the book good gods what was that??? i was so fucking pissed that Delilah took him back sitting here fuming at 4am when i need to be up in 2 more hrs ffs. the public apology was already grinding on my nerves but i let it slide...all of these characters need therapy so so badly...Rowan the most of course.

i want to fuck date marry Matt so bad tho

overall the whole experience of reading this book was bad. i read it for a reading club and i'm sorry for myself. Delilah deserves better than a manchild that doesnt know how to use a condom properly. business owner my ass Delilah is worth 10000 Rowans and i'm pissed this was a romance book. everybody needs therapy after this one😋🥰🥹😘

i didn't like a single part of this book

Very emo.  Two characters who are crippled emotionally by their upbrining.  Lots of internal, and some external conflict.  Enjoyable, but dragged at times.

I had high hopes for this book, but the book wasn't what I thought it was. I found the plot very slow, and I found it was repetitive. The number of times both main characters explained their plot I lost count.

The topics they touch on are emotional and what many people go through, but it was mentioned in at least every other chapter.

I found the MMC boring, and I couldn't get into his character much.

I don’t think Rowan’s story is as strong as Delilah’s story. I actually believe that the townspeople volunteered for the festival cause we know that she has put a lot of effort into helping the town and the people. I don’t believe that a bunch of people in the town would come up to McKenna and tell her what a good father Rowan is cause I don’t think he really made any friendships in the town. He didn’t even know that his supposed friend was in a fake relationship with his ex!?!!!!! And the more that I think about it the more I realize that we don’t actually ever see Delilah helping anyone in that town that isn’t Rowan so now I’m starting to doubt her whole storyline.
Again, their separate storylines are honestly really good but the romance just fell apart for me. Plus I think I a lot of their banter was cringey and I absolutely hated the public apology.

Rich-girl Delilah lost everything when her mother was convicted of fraud. Working as a barista, she meets single dad Rowan. She helps him adjust to life with a newborn. Is there room in his life for romance?

I love how deeply the author drilled down into these characters. Rowan struggles with overwhelm and a sense of inadequacy as a new parent. Delilah feels guilty about the life she led at the expense of her mother's clients. There's also a supportive secondary cast that gives the book a small-town family feeling. A great start to the series!

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
