I had such a great time with this book! It was wonderfully cosy, but with more than enough action to hold your attention if cosy isn’t always for you. I really cared about these characters and this little inn in the middle of nowhere, which isn’t easy to do in under 300 pages.

It’s fun for any time of year, but particularly around the winter/Christmas season!

Come visit The Mage and the Rose, a cosy tavern in the village of Storsmby, and step into the world of cosy fantasy standalone with beautifully written characters you will fall in love with. Ava has created a story full of love, devotion, duty, passion and witty banter. Oh, and let's not forget the broom closet scene!

I love Ava's work, and you should, too! In case you haven't yet, I urge you to read On Silver Winds, Book 1, in her Duet of Snow and Silver. You won't regret it!

A Serpent in Stormsby has it all—a feisty fire-wielder FMC who would do anything for those she loves, a captain of the Kingsmen who persecuted forbidden magic users, lovely side characters who add so much to the plot, a hint of mystery and hidden identities, blossoming friendships and a soul-binding love. Add to the mix perfectly executed spice scenes, witty banter, unexpected twists and turns, and a HEA to warm your heart.

So, to sum it up, what do you get when you pair up Roz, the innkeeper and a secret fire-witch, with Caelan, a smooth-talking captain on a mission to hunt a Serpent, a magic user able to change his skin? You get tons and tons of buildup, so much tension, the infamous broom closet scene, and the birth of love ready to set the world on fire.

A Serpent in Stormsby is a perfect romantasy on the spicier side, with a great plot, written from a single POV (Roz) that will envelop you in a beautiful, cosy feeling, making you want to visit The Mage and the Rose and become a part of Roz's perfectly imperfect found family.
