There was just too much going on, kidnapping, third act breakup and the reveal that the fake relationship is not so fake after all. Everything was just piled on top of each other. Therefore, everything felt really rushed and nothing was resolved properly or satisfying.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wow! This story is beautifully written, with complex characters and a plot that keeps you hooked. The chemistry between the Dylan & Rhy is electric, and their journey is filled with intense emotions, heartache, and redemption.
I loved learning their backstory, both of their pasts and how they have helped mold them into their current selves!
I will not stand for any Dylan or Rhy criticism, they are both so beautiful!

“To every girl who was ever made to feel less-than for her choices. You are magic. Burn the patriarchy.”
Definitely better than the first one!
I hate the daughter’s name though. I’m not sorry, why would someone name a kid that??
While I will admit that I moved this up on the TBR so I can read the next one…this was an enjoyable and easy read with cute and funny banter. I loved the protective nature that came out in Rhyland and how he interacted with Grav.

As someone who cut my reader teeth on historical romance, not much hits harder for me than the “reformed rake” (aka the former gigolo in Rhyland’s case). Throw in the brother’s best friend and hate to love tropes, and I am all in.
Dylan and Rhyland being the couple in this book was not on my bingo card, but I never should have doubted LJ Shen. There’s something about the way these two banter and bicker that just works for me. Their chemistry is sparking with every encounter, but what really did it for me was Rhyland’s relationship with Gravity. He fought falling for that little girl with everything he had, but by the time he was giving her words of affirmation every night, and tucking her in with Mr. Mushroom, I was a goner. And really, Dylan never stood a chance.
I listened to the audiobook featuring duet narration by Teddy Hamilton and Savannah Peachwood, and I highly recommend it. The performances were great, the snark, the sizzle, and the vulnerability in the story all came through so well that I didn’t want to stop once I got started.

When Dylan moves to the city the last thing she wants as a single mom and the designated fuck up sibling is to become someone’s charity case. So when her brother’s best friend, Rhyland’s, potential business investor mistakes them as a happy couple, she’s reluctant to agree to go along with it even when he agrees to give her a ridiculous sum of money to keep up the charade. But she needs the money and she figures maybe there could be some benefits involved especially when Rhyland is a known playboy and she’s in no place for romance.
But the more they explore those benefits the harder they find to keep their hearts out of it.
I absolutely adored Dylan in book one and I have been patiently waiting for her story and it did not disappoint. Dylan is the kind of mom you would want in your corner. She’s fiercely loyal, protective and willing to do almost anything for those she loves. Her banter with Rhyland had me in stitches and her blunt straight forward propositioning of him gave me life.
I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the cocky reformed playboy especially given his apparent inability to take things seriously but Rhyland had layers and he truly surprised me. I related so hard to his early moments with Gravity but it was delightful to watch his relationship with her grow from apathy to adoration.
This is steamier than LJ’s usual books and I am here for it! These two absolutely melted the pages. But she didn’t sacrifice any of her usual angsty goodness for the steam…she just turned up the heat a whole lot.
This is easily a new favorite and if you haven’t picked up a copy yet make sure to check all the editions because you’re going to want a copy of this gorgeous book on your shelves…maybe multiples
