The sections about Whisperwood were the best parts! The reality parts were somehow less believable. But altogether a lovely story about the value of storytelling (for comfort, for processing terrible events, for making sense of the world, and as an escape to a safe place). Great for fans of historical fiction & fairytales. Might make for good discussion and comparison to classic fairytales.

I really enjoyed this beautiful story about two sisters, the escalating threat of war, a mysterious disappearance, and strong family bonds. I learned a lot about the historical facts of the time period in London and outlying areas. I liked the references to books, fairy tales, and magical made up stories.
