I already struggled my way through one 500+ page book this year, I'm not doing it again

I wanted to like this so badly, but this was an absolute slog of 700+ pages in which we mostly just get endless whining from Hadrian who, in my opinion, has absolutely no endearing qualities. I love unlikeable protagonists, but I still need to be able to get behind them being the protagonist for one reason or another. Hadrian is way too dull and boring and ugh! All he does is whine and get pushed from one thing to another and then whine some more. I think the main problem for me is that ultimately I just didn’t care about his goals or desires, and apparently that is important to me when determining whether I like a character or not.

This took me forever to get through because I simply didn’t ever want to read it. I’m vaguely interested in what ends up happening overall with the war and stuff but I don’t think I’m interested enough to continue tbh :/

I don’t know if I’ll continue this series, interesting ideas but just didn’t grab me.

I really wanted to like this book, but I've just kinda snapped. Got to the part where the doctor was caught sleeping with a castle sex slave and I'm just done. Everyone in this book sucks The MC isn't allowed to have a pleasant relationship with anyone in this story. They either die betray him or in the case of the doctor act high and mighty only to take advantage of sex slaves. I'm sure the author had a plan for all this but this parade of misery is too long.

The story really needed an edit, every mini arc goes on to long and I just want them to be over along with the book. I got to say I'm heart broken over this one because there was a little good in this one but I wont be finishing it.
