Pretty much Mothman plus The Descent so that’s 4 stars from me.

Started off very strong but fell apart in the second half. Was not a fan of the ending at all. Left so much unexplained. Just not for me

A delightfully creepy creature feature, this novella is a one-sitting read that will keep you guessing.

Hightower first layers realistic fears about being alone on a trip—weird men, freak snowstorm, car issues. Tension heightens when main character Addy tries to help a new friend who winds up in a dangerous situation, but she only finds herself in an even worse one. I was completely shocked by a nasty revelation that things are not at all what they seem, and from that point, the story fully had me in its grips.

This one constantly pulls the rug out from under the reader. Every time you think you have a handle on what's going on, Hightower has a whole 'nother thing coming your way. I loved how it keeps Addy in that liminal space of not knowing what is real, what is in her mind, and what might be beyond the realm of her understanding. It is an intense experience that although surreal in the story, feels like a realistic representation of gaslighting.

I have to admit that from the image on the cover, I was convinced that this was a Mothman story and that's why I initially was interested. After reading, I'm not entirely sure if that was the intent, but it really doesn't matter because I had so much fun with it!

My thanks to the publisher for my review copy of this one.

This was a short and sweet story.

Despite very little being explained or making sense, it's a great read with some creepy imagery.

I really liked Addy's character development, something that was well-down despite the story's short length.

I guess it is a kind of 'finding oneself' story, but I couldn't really relate to Addy's life and issues to fully appreciate that aspect of the story.

Definitely recommend it to any horror fan looking for a short but atmospheric read.

it was fine, decent. the ending message bumps it up from a mediocre 3 star.

I want my time back.

I loved this so much, it’s so short and I wish it was longer because I just wanted more of this!

It was so eerie and reality was so blurred, what was real, what did she see that was true, what was an illusion?

I just inhaled this book, it’s so fast paced and I loved everything about it!
